To create a brand identity for the Clinical Education Department at Darent Valley Hospital (Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust). The department works towards improving and assuring the quality of both medical and non-medical training provided at the Hospital.
I was commissioned to create a new modern, fresh and professional looking logo that was bright and within keeping of the NHS colour palette to rebrand the CED which could be used across print and online.
The brand was designed to not pigeonhole itself i.e not specific to doctors, but aimed at attracting medical students, and being part of the NHS it needed to appeal across the board.
The brief:
– Title – Darent Valley Hospital Medical Education Department (we will work along the full title or an abbreviations of within the design concepts)– Modern, Fresh (not boring) & Professional Design
– Colours – bright (not overly fussed) / NHS colour palette
– Design shouldn’t pigeonhole i.e not specific to doctors, but is trying to attract medical students
– Being part of the NHS this still needs to appeal across the board
– Target market / demographic – mid 20’s with a middle class
– Wave concept – not overly fussed on using but might be good to keep
We have kept the colours within the NHS colour palette guidelines and we have tried to keep to the fonts which are listed in the guidelines too. However we are unsure whether we can deviate a little from this as the font used for the ‘ME’ in the MTWme logo isn’t stated in the NHS guidelines. So we can obviously look at playing around with fonts later.

Objective
To create a brand identity to launch this new startup company that designs, builds and fits garden structures. The brand needed to look professional and modern to carry the company message of ‘Your Own Perfect Space’ through digital and print design.
Solution
The branding was designed to be clean, engaging and exciting to match the ‘Spaces that inspire’ which Your Utopia Room design & build. The colour palette was chosen to go with the eco-friendly ethos the company prides itself on. A crisp and attractive website alongside brochures, marketing materials, stationery and showroom signage were designed.

Within the brief the client was keen on using a “wave” concept which was used on the Darent Valley hospital branding and main entrance architectural design of the building inspired by the water from the Gravesham coat of arms.
